Server-based or browser-based syntax highlighting?

Do you use any syntax highlighting script in your forum or website? If so, which do you prefer: server or browser based?

Personally, my server-based favorite solution being GeSHi (site: geshi.org) and my browser-based solution being ACE (site: ace.c9.io), which also doubles as a code editor.

If you have never tried offering syntax highlighting to your users you can try searching with your current software, for instance:

    google.com/search?q=geshi+joomla
    google.com/search?q=geshi+drupal
    google.com/search?q=geshi+phpbb
    google.com/search?q=geshi+smf

    and so on.

    Some syntax highlighters:

    alexgorbatchev.com/SyntaxHighlighter/
    code.google.com/p/google-code-prettify/
    highlightjs.org

If your community deals with code (even if a little) chances are a syntax highlighter will be welcome.
